You know you are in love with\u00a0your dolls,\u00a0when at random moments of the day,\u00a0you will steal some glimpses of the dolls in your phone and start smiling\u00a0uncontrollably\u00a0to yourself. That’s who I am, a proud creator of my dolls!<\/p>\n

From balls of yarn to these 3D dolls,\u00a0the process\u00a0was\u00a0challenging\u00a0for me, considering that I\u00a0picked up crochet only in February this year.\u00a0Before I started on these dolls, I was worried that they wouldn’t look like dolls at the end of the day, simply because I can’t gauge proportion very well. If you have seen my Wasabi and Ketchup plushies in person, you may be surprised at their humongous eyes compared to their tiny bodies. Mister can vouch for my horrible sense of proportion, because I\u00a0never fail to get him\u00a0wrong-sized tee shirts whenever he\u00a0isn’t around for fitting. But I decided to\u00a0take the leap of faith anyway.<\/p>\n

I wasn’t\u00a0confident that I had the skill level to pull off these dolls. For sure, I can understand what’s a single crochet, what’s a\u00a0double crochet, what’s a magic loop and all. But creating a doll is just so different… Nonetheless, I took up this challenge because I really wanted to have a set of wedding dolls handmade by myself. If all goes well, I know it will be the best wedding present to ourselves. And there won’t be any regrets when I look back on our wedding many years later. Instead, it will be with pride when I show off these dolls and exclaim “I made these dolls!”<\/p>\n

Time wasn’t on my side either. I\u00a0wasn’t sure that I could get these dolls out in time for wedding shoot #2 (the reason for the shoot #2 is long…),\u00a0but I just crochet as and when I could, such as during\u00a0my morning bus rides, during pockets of waiting time and\u00a0before bedtime. For weeks, my life revolves around work,\u00a0gym, swimming and crochet. My trusty white nike jaw-string bag has been my best companion for this period, never leaving my side. The Saturday before the shoot, I felt like I needed 48 hours in a day.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, it all paid off! ^_^<\/p>\n

The dolls were completed just in time, the night before the shoot. So there they are, the dolls standing proud and tall and me feeling pleased with myself!<\/p>\n
