so i bought a mini-heart-shaped-cakes maker on impulse 🙁 already have an oven and whatnots at home but this look so cute and fuss free and heart shapes <3 *excuses* it works kinda like a waffle iron so i didn’t really have much expectations on it.
the hardest part was finding a recipe because there are almost none available. the only one i found uses morinaga pancake mix but did not indicate the duration to ‘bake’ it for (http://munchministry.com/recipe/chocolatey-milo-mini-cakes-with-hershey-chips/)
and so like the pancake i love from mr. bean, i thought of adding an extra in the centre! we had batches of peanut butter filling and another of nutella filling.
the texture of the cake weren’t really to my liking and the centre was not melty enough *shrugs* and the texture gets worst just one day later. but the recipe is really easy and fast to do.
we tried another, using pandan chiffon cake recipe (http://en.christinesrecipes.com/2011/06/pandan-chiffon-cake.html) because i love pandan cakes XD but i was worried real cake recipes wouldn’t cook well in the maker.
my favourite part! folding in stiffly beaten egg whites… so flufffyyyyy
and again because we didn’t know the duration to ‘bake’ it for, the first few batches of pandan minicakes were really ugly and flat lol. we used up like half the batter testing the timings lol.
but never give up! pretty and spongy! i reckon it will taste even better in the original cake form baked in the conventional oven but 10-15 minutes of this and ready to pop them in your mouth is pretty awesome too. this was also more work compared to just baking a cake because you can only do 7 minis at a go, just that you can’t wash the machine so you don’t have to wash as much stuffs *yay*
because of so much trial&error on the timings, we were really full after all the ‘baking’. which angers doggy pepper very much because she can’t have any. this cutie kept pacing around the machine all day while we are baking lol.
