Never Give Up!

Digressing from the title, this post is about rilakkuma. If you don’t already know what it is, here is the cutest mascot ever.

And me attempting to be rilakkuma

Nope not me =(

And because it looks so simple to create and being totally adorable, lots of cute food art are created for rilakkuma. Being so full of ourselvesย confident, we attempted to make rilakkuma pancakes. But seriously it just looks so easy isn’t it? We were wrong ๐Ÿ™

So wrong.

LOL! It was beyond horrible and my appetite had just became -100 that morning. It was so hilarious we were tearing from all the laughter. We’re sorry rila-kun =(

And then fast forward a few months, we were more prepared and had a much clearer idea (learning from our experience *ahem*) so we were ready to give it another try.

So my friends, never give up! =)

Our board is up at Singapore’s Korea Plaza!

 photo IMG_3312_zps4f710664.jpg

We were contemplating to steal ask them if we could keep the board after the display period ends, but the person didn’t really know english. We also introduced some of the places we stayed and went, to this elderly couple who noticed us and the board. It was slightly embarrassing, but hoped our insights will be useful for them.

After that my mum brought us for a mini celebratory lunch at Wang Dae Bak Korean BBQ lol. It was pretty good with a super awesome seafood pancake.

Too hungry, thus only managed to capture a patronising picture lol.

Writing this from the spanking new laptop I won from the Korea Itinerary Contest XD which is a crappy prize imho (first world problems). But sharing our fond memories and love for the trip has brought about so much more additional joy, so I guess that’s worth even more ๐Ÿ™‚

mister minicakes

so i bought a mini-heart-shaped-cakes maker on impulse ๐Ÿ™ already have an oven and whatnots at home but this look so cute and fuss free and heart shapes <3 *excuses* it works kinda like a waffle iron so i didn’t really have much expectations on it.

the hardest part was finding a recipe because there are almost none available. the only one i found uses morinaga pancake mix but did not indicate the duration to ‘bake’ it for (http://munchministry.com/recipe/chocolatey-milo-mini-cakes-with-hershey-chips/)

and so like the pancake i love from mr. bean, i thought of adding an extra in the centre! we had batches of peanut butter filling and another of nutella filling.

 photo IMG_3220_zpsb6b2f3b5.jpg
cover them up!

the texture of the cake weren’t really to my liking and the centre was not melty enough *shrugs* and the texture gets worst just one day later. but the recipe is really easy and fast to do.

we tried another, using pandan chiffon cake recipe (http://en.christinesrecipes.com/2011/06/pandan-chiffon-cake.html) because i love pandan cakes XD but i was worried real cake recipes wouldn’t cook well in the maker.

my favourite part! folding in stiffly beaten egg whites… so flufffyyyyy

 photo IMG_3211_zps9373ab51.jpg

and again because we didn’t know the duration to ‘bake’ it for, the first few batches of pandan minicakes were really ugly and flat lol. we used up like half the batter testing the timings lol.

but never give up! pretty and spongy! i reckon it will taste even better in the original cake form baked in the conventional oven but 10-15 minutes of this and ready to pop them in your mouth is pretty awesome too. this was also more work compared to just baking a cake because you can only do 7 minis at a go, just that you can’t wash the machine so you don’t have to wash as much stuffs *yay*

 photo IMG_3218_zps60b648b4.jpg

because of so much trial&error on the timings, we were really full after all the ‘baking’. which angers doggy pepper very much because she can’t have any. this cutie kept pacing around the machine all day while we are baking lol.

braiding

& so i took an arrow to the knee… in the midst of resting my knee and being bored at home for a day (time passes really slowly at home o.o)… i tried to learn how to braid my hair… so thankful for internet you can learn almost anything!…

 photo IMG_2100_zps33dd9097.jpg

top left: ugly version of katniss braid in the hunger games, top right and bottom left: self-improvised bottoms braids with top bun, bottom right: fishtail braid

and thus i almost broke my elbows too… braiding is so tiring…

but yay to tiny bit of pink hair… fading by the minute ๐Ÿ™
