Gift Exhange with the Ex-Best Pal

It was just a thought when I asked her over a conversation, about whether will she be keen to do a gift exchange this year! You know it was those kind of things that you asked and silently hope to hear a NO for an answer?

Imagine my surprise when she readily agreed without even giving it a second thought! -_-”

No! I don’t exactly hate gift exchange! I just dislike the idea of having to get something just for the sake of getting it, without having any actual meaning to it!

Let’s face it! There’s only so much useful things that we can get with $20 out there ( That’s usually the budget! )

Fortunately, our friendship is at that level whereby we can just tell each other what we want.

She asked for one of our Minister Mentor, Harry Lee’s biography while I opted for the latest Big Bang’s Mini Album, ALIVE.

Why?

Recently, she got her fortune read and apparently, she was advised to place a biography of a powerful figure beside her bed! Something about things will go smoothly… the feng shui and stuffs?

I thought that the lastest Big Bang’s mini album, ALIVE, is a brilliant one! The songs in there are fantastic. I will have get that album long ago just that it happens to fall into the ‘Things that I won’t buy even if I have the spare cash!‘ category!

Yes! She not only get me the album, she bought the limited edition copy! She actually get a friend to buy it in Korea! I asked, “Since when you have a friend in Korea?”

As usual, she just have to add an air of mystery to her reply. She said, “I have my connections! You don’t to worry about that!”

Haha… I’d a great Christmas!

Thanks for the gift, my friend! I really like it =)

Merry Xmas to all~

One of my favorite Artist

I feel that there are various factors contributing to the success of Magic: The Gathering and one of it is the artwork.

One of my favorite artist is Rebecca Guay.

I’m facing problem with the uploading of photos. Will post more cards drawn by Rebecca Guay when I’m able to do so =)

Congratulations to Loon and Adeline!

The amazing things about having good friends are how we still managed to keep in touch after all these years, come out with time to meet up and see how one another progress in/through life!

I’m blessed to know/make/have good friends from the different stages of my life!

Today, one of my good friend, Loon Cheong, from Poly Years be getting married. And I’m honored and thrilled to be his Emcee for the wedding.

This will officially be my 3rd time to be an Emcee for Wedding Dinner. The first time was during Mike and Sharon’s wedding while the second time was on Kevin and Isabelle’s big night. I’m not a great speaker and definitely have stage fright. Just happy that they included me in one of the most memorable day of their lives =)

Congratulations to you both! Wishing you both En En Ai Ai and Bai Tou Dao Lao! =)

Loon Cheong and Adeline.

The photos were taken during Loon’s Birthday Celebration last year!

Desolation Angel

There are a number of Planes in the World of Magic. So far my favorite one is Kamigawa. I will touch on that in a later entry!

As players of Magic, we are otherwise known as Planeswalker. We start off with 20 life each, with the aim of bringing down that of our opponents to zero. How we do it? With our cards.

There are few kinds of cards that one can include in the deck! Depending on the kind of format that you play, there are usually 60 cards in a deck with only up to 4 copy of the same cards allowed.

The thousands of cards out there are categorise under,

1) Land

2) Creature

3) Artifact

4) Sorcery

5) Instant – previously known as Interrupt. They have changed that since.

Remember when we were in Primary/Secondary school and they grouped us according to colors during Sports Day? In Magic, there are 5 different colors. ( White, Green, Blue, Red and Black )

The story comes in 3 sets per block with an average of 200+ cards in a set!

The final set Apocalypse in the Invasion block came after 7th Edition.

The set kind of provided closure to the story. For the longest time, the story been revolving around the same old people. Various main characters were being killed off. Can you imagine the shock that we get? Making a comeback only to find out that the story be coming to an end? Hahaha

Desolation Angel – Back then, I don’t know how good a card is. Usually, we take Keith’s word for it. Upon reading the review he told us about Desolation Angel. There’s usually 1 to 2 angel in a set.

And I got it in the first pack of booster that I bought =)

Serra Angel

7th edition hit the shelves in the stores not long after we got right back into the game.

I remembered us looking forward to the launch of 7th Edition with much excitement as good cards such as Birds of Paradise, Serra Angel were reprinted.

Back then, I came across an article saying that the art was Madonna inspired. Yes! The sharp pointed cones armour!

Haha…

Though not as powerful as Serra Angel, I like the below card for it’s artwork.

It was drawn by Matthew D.Wilson.

My First Angel

I always have the luck in getting good rares out of the booster packs.

There are 15 cards in a pack and here’s the breakdown – 11 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare.

The first rare Angel card that I got was Archangel from 6th Edition.

Magic Cards – How It All Beings

Magic Cards.

For the benefit of those who needs a crash course on what in the world are Magic Cards, you be able to get more information from the below link 🙂

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic:_The_Gathering

I started playing the collectible card games when I was in Secondary 1! A pack of booster cost $3.50 and as students who are still surviving on pocket moneys from parents, I didn’t formed any deck! I only played the ones formed by my cousin, Keith. He was already serving his National Service and naturally, he has the funds to feed his hobby 🙂

Since he was the only ones with the cards, things eventually got boring for him. He sold off his collection. That was in 1997?

However, that trading card game is always at the back of my mind.

In Year 2000, while waiting to watch the below movie, Genki, Keith and I had a chat about Magic Cards. Apparently, Keith didn’t sold off his entire collection. He still have some of the cards left.

After the movie, the 3 of us went back to his house to see what is left of his previous collection.

…And the rest is history.

We make a comeback!
